"EU Minds" debate was held in Osijek PDF Print E-mail

On Friday 13th of  May, a Second gymnasium in Osijek hosted the second debate in the Osijek-Baranja County. The debate was implemented within the project "EU minds", which is implemented by PRONI Center for social education, in the partnership with  Osijek-Baranja, Vukovar-Srijem and Sisak-Moslavina Counties.

About 30 students of third grade of language gymnasium have presented their argumented views during the debate on what could be the situation in education and university studying after joining the EU, what EU accession brings to farmers and the entire Croatian economy, and how the Croatian accession to the EU could affect corruption.

Debate leaders, Damir Lajos and Mirela Sudaric from the Agency for the Development of Osijek-Baranja County, conducted a three-sided debate leading students through exposure to YES, NO and NEUTRAL side, followed by a large discussion, facts presentation after which large part of students changed their positions. Topics that were discussed during the debate were selected based on survey results which County representatives previously implemented in 17 secondary schools during February and March this year.
